BOSA
SAINT MARIA OF THE SEA
City abandoned on the fund valley, a little far from the crystalline waters
of the sea, dominated from the Castle of the Malaspinas, Bosa is situated
on the coast western north of Sardinia, in a zone populated by small agricultural
centers the Planargia, of which is historically chief town. The origin has
documented from a registration of the period phoenician of the IX century
a.C., but the most substantial news goes up again to
the
Roman age when the Bosa Vetus rose near the actual church of Saint Pietro,
pleasant example of Romanesque architecture, built in 1602, always along the
course of the river, but awryer in comparison to the today's location. In
the plaza of weapons of the castle, the church of the three hundred of Ours
rises Mrs. of Regnos Altos, rich of beautiful frescos of Tuscan school of
the XIV century. Around the hill of Serravalle the medieval center was developed,
today known as district he Sa Costa, one of the great historical centers of
Sardinia, characterized by an interlacement of alleys, porticos and you broaden.
In this suggestive frame, every year, the first Sunday of August, the party
is developed in honor of Saint Maria of the Sea with an imposing procession
of boats along the river I Fear. The simulacrum of the virgin is brought in
procession up to the I bring for going up again the waters of the river I
Fear up to the cathedral where the holy mass is celebrated. The actual building,
devoted to the immaculate one, that replaces the ancient cathedral devoted
Maria to Saint, it goes up again to the beginnings of the XII century and
he has been restored in the XV sec. The inside is introduced to an aisle with
an indication of chapels drawn between the buttresses boxed in the side walls;
the rectangular presbytery, raised again in comparison to the aisle, he is
characterized from once to broken barrel that it replaces the traditional
coverage cruise; to the inside, on the right part, an aisle with side chapels
and, at the end, a vain with apse and dome. For the one who he wants to sojourn
to Bosa for more days are to disposition hotel structures high-class that
go from the hotel to the camping, from the tourist village to the residence,
from the restaurant to the pizzeria, to enjoy the beauties of a sea that to
reason she can be decorated some flag blue that is attributed only to the
uncontaminated places. For the lovers of the nature it is possible to observe
exemplary jewels of endemic kind of flora and fauna that they confer to this
part of Sardinia an extraordinary scientific and naturalistic value.
ITINERARY
THE MARVEL OF SAINT ANTIOCO AND CALASETTA
The itinerary of this month is developed in the island of Saint Antioco with
his centers of Saint Antioco and Calasetta. Holy Antioco is the principal
ce
nter
of the island, heir of the ancient Sulcis, one of the most important cities
of the punics and Romans of Sardinia. The zone was lived by the primitive
Sardinians that huts left you built with poles and branches as you/they testify
the village prenuragico (before the period nuragico) of the area of the adjacent
to Cronicario the city hospice and frequented to horse between the end of
fourth and the beginning of the third millennium a.C. or the village prenuragico
in place Canai, in the south of the island. You civilization nuragica (prehistoric
period) she has documented from about thirty nuraghi and from the grave of
giants of Noccus and from the temple to well of Grutti Acqua she anchors waiting
to suitable scientific exploration while it is being it notices the structure
of the grave of giants of Su Niu and Su Crobu. Beginning from half the
eighth century a.C., the Carbolic, the inhabitants of the coastal band of
the syrian and Palestine, found a series of commercial emporiums in the coast
western south of Sardinia what Karalis, Nora, Bitia, Sulcis and Tharros. The
excavations performed in the area of the Cronicario reveal the rests of a
housing installation that it goes up again to the 750-740 a.C. and of a sanctuary
city called Thopet. The Tophet is introduced as an area fenced with walls
of stone to whose center was raised the altar around which stele was deposited
carved with varied representations and containing urns the ashes that today
glances as fruit of bloody sacrifices don't come anymore, but as rests of
premature dead little boys or in tender age. Of the Roman period scarce leftovers
remain; in region Is Solus the big cisterns and the source, in the street
Eleanor of Arboreal a mausoleum funeral or in called stone she knows Sa presonedda,
the Roman necropolis and the underlying catacombs the ancient cathedral and
partly drawn by the restructuring of ancient hypogeas of the period punic,
with chronological development that goes AD from the IV to the VII century
From to admire the beach of Maladroxia, the very beautiful small beach of
Tower Cannai, dominated from a Spanish tower, Head Speron, Cove Soap, Long
Cove. Once important center of production of the wine, but now to prevailing
tourist formulation, Calasetta is characteristic for his/her almost oriental
aspect with the parish church that seems a mosque and the Spanish tower that
it dominates the inhabited area. The inhabitants differ from those of Saint
Antioco and they are approached, instead, for the customs and for the dialect,
a great deal similar to the Genoese, to those of Carloforte. From the I bring,
varied times a day, they set sail the ferries that in around half time they
transport passengers and auto to the island of Saint Pietro. Taking to Tourist
it goes out each other of the inhabited area to reach the beautiful beaches
of Under Tower, the Salt pans and Great Beach and the bluff to peak on the
sea.
